What is a Nutrient Management Plan?
The objective of a Nutrient Management Plan is to efficiently utilize available nutrient sources for crops, including strategies relating to crop rotation, tactics for dealing with soil erosion, and information on uses for livestock manure and other organic by-products.
The goals of a Nutrient Management Plan are to both maximize crop output and minimize environmental impact. By catering to each individual crops’ nutrient needs appropriately, harmful phenomena such as dead zones due to chemical run-off can be mitigated.
